제 9회 스미소니언 매거진(Smithsonian Magazine) 사진 콘테스트

스미소니언 박물관에서 발행하는 잡지인 스미소니언 매거진(Smithsonian Magazine)에서 매년 사진 콘테스트를 열고 있는데 올해가 9회째라 하네요.
제목은 스미소니언 매거진 사진 연례 공모전(Smithsonian Magazine's Annual Photo Contest)
카테고리는 Americana, The Natural World, People, Altered Images, Travel' 의 다섯개로 나눠져 있고 여기에서 올해 2월말까지 최종 예선을 거쳐 후보에 오른 50작품을 선정하여 발표하였습니다.

From the Altered Images category, a White Collared Kingfisher (halcyon chloris) dives out of the water, after a quick afternoon dip in the Kinabatangan River, Borneo, by C.S. Ling of Singapore. Photographer Ling: "This sequence was shot with a Nikon D3 with 500mm lens on a continuous high burst mode, capturing all 10 action shots of the kingfisher within a split second. The images were later pieced together in Photoshop into one sequence shot". Photographed in Sabah, Borneo, in July of 2011.

Photographer Stojanovic: "During a two-year period (from 2008-2010), I was shooting every day activities of my neighbors. The idea was to show diversity of ordinary life and this old socialist building which I saw as some kind of prison. In that kind of huge structure with many people, even your neighbors are almost total strangers". Photographed in Novi Sad, in November of 2011.
